When young Ichimura's parents are viciously murdered, he seeks out the legendary Shinsegumi swordsmen in the hope that they can train him to seek revenge. Locked into a deadly battle with the Choshu rebels, the Shinsegumi soon reveal themselves as equally violent and bloodstained, and Ichimura struggles his need for vengeance and his desire for peace.
